Ombre’ Cake

I’m not much of a cook, I just don’t really enjoy doing it. Luckily, I have a husband who is great with a BBQ and cooks most of our dinners. However, I do love to bake desserts! I bake everything from cookies to pies, crumbles, and cakes. I’ve been seeing a lot of multi-layered and colored cakes out on the internet lately; so I decided to give it a whirl. Here is my attempt…

I like my cake light and fluffy, but I learned that for this type of cake (with multiple layers) I would be better off with a denser recipe. Throughout the day, the bottom layer got squished from the weight above. Perhaps it would have been better to make the layers thinner as well; but this was the first cake I have made in quite some time, and my two little chickens couldn’t have been more pleased!
