Fresh Basil Pesto Sauce

After our photo session, Ginette treated us to a large bundle of fresh basil from her garden. We were happy to accept the bounty since we struggle growing basil at home – the leaves turn rubbery and lose the strong scent/flavor that the herb is known for. I have always wanted to make my own pesto sauce from scratch; so I decided to give it a try seeing as how I had nearly a bushel of it to work with. After a little bit of googling, I came across this recipe ; it was easy and delicious! I added some heirloom cherry tomatoes and marinated mozzarella, then tossed it with some fresh arugula. The best part… I have a whole batch of sauce left in the freezer for later use!
